Introducing our surf guide created for beginner surfers, surfers coming back after a long hiatus after a traumatic event, or for anyone that just wants to learn more about surfing and themselves.
Learning to surf is as much a mental game as it is a physical one. Fear of the ocean, overwhelm in the lineup, the frustration of feeling like everyone else makes it look easy — sound familiar? This guide was written for you.
Created by a surf-loving, cognitive behavioral therapy trained, mental health nurse practitioner who learned to surf as an adult, this book blends practical surf knowledge with mindfulness, mental wellness, and confidence-building tools. You’ll learn everything from reading waves, paddling out, and popping up, to calming your mind when fear hits and finding your flow in the lineup.
Unlike traditional surf manuals, From Fear to Flow goes beyond technique. It explores the emotional and mental side of surfing — how to reframe fear, connect with nature, and build resilience through each wipeout and small victory. Filled with real stories, journaling prompts, and gentle coaching, this guide is as much about personal growth as it is about catching waves.
You’ll learn breath work for pre-surf anxiety, techniques for building ocean confidence, how to read waves without feeling paralyzed, and practices to quiet the overthinking
that kills your flow state.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a nervous intermediate, this guide will change how you relate to the ocean — and to yourself.
Whether you’re standing on the sand for the first time or returning to the sea after a long break, From Fear to Flow will help you transform hesitation into harmony — and fear into freedom.
What’s Inside:
• Ocean mindset: rewiring fear into curiosity
• Breath work and nervous system regulation before/ during paddling out
• Reading waves and a surf report: a beginner’s guide without the overwhelm
• Surf etiquette and how to wipeout (and why it matters for confidence)
• Journaling prompts for tracking your surf journey
Perfect for: beginner surfers, ocean lovers, and anyone seeking courage, connection, and confidence in and out of the water. 🌊✨

I bought this after years of surfing off and on and finally wanting to get serious about it. So many coaching programs are so expensive and as someone on a fixed income, I needed something budget friendly. This was it! I am getting so much out of this, and go back to certain parts of it after I go surfing and it really does wonders. I've been way too in my head for too long about surfing, and this book has been so helpful for me. Finally having fun again!
The book itself is full of good insider info, as someone who surfed more than 10 years ago it was a good refresher for me. Also had some helpful workouts to get in shape. I haven’t done the coaching call yet (not ready yet) but the author has been so supportive and helpful. Good value!
This guide was written like your therapist who also happens to be humorous and a surfer. I’ve struggled with surfing anything bigger than 2 feet since I had a gnarly accident last year and this has been so helpful for me mentally. Also did the 1:1 coaching call and it was so worth it! Jas is the best!
I'm fairly new to surfing and feel like a complete kook sometimes so I thought I'd get a surf book to help me with the basics. I also have really bad anxiety in general but this book helped me learn some new tools to deal with it when I'm out on the water. Good surf tips, easy to read and actually affordable. Will be gifting a copy to my friend for Christmas!
Bought this book on a whim because I’ve been so put off by a bad experience I had surfing earlier this year and it has been so helpful for my anxiety and just for basic foundation skills. I feel better prepared and it was cool to understand some of the science behind it. Totally worth it!
